India violating international law in IIOJK: APHC-AJK

Islamabad, May 26, 2023 (PPI-OT): A meeting of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter was held in Islamabad, today, with its Convener Mehmood Ahmad Saghar in chair. The participants of the meeting said that India was violating international law in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. They said the officials of New Delhi-controlled State Investigation Agency (SIA) along with Indian paramilitary personnel raid the homes of Hurriyat leaders, human rights activists, journalists and even ordinary people in the territory and harass the residents.

The Hurriyat leaders deplored that Narendra Modi-led Indian government was using its infamous investigating agencies like National Investigation Agency (NIA), State Investigation Agency (SIA) and Enforcement Directorate as weapons to suppress and harass the Kashmiris. Indian agencies, they added, are framing false cases to break the resolve of the Hurriyat leaders and activists but will never succeed in their nefarious intentions and the people of Kashmir will continue their struggle for self-determination.

The participants of the meeting also expressed anger against India’s cruel and illegal move of shifting Kashmiri political prisoners from IIOJK to Indian jails hundreds and thousands of miles away from their homes and families in gross violation of international law and norms. They said that Hurriyat leaders including Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Aasiya Andrabi, Dr Qasim Fakhtoo, Naheeda, Nasreen, Fehmeeda Sofi, Peer Saifullah, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani, Bilal Siddiqui, Yasmeen Raja and Zamruda Habib had been lodged in different jails.

Mehmood Ahmed Saghar speaking on the occasion said, Indian troops are committing human rights violations and other crimes and have martyred many people in the occupied territory in fake encounters. He appealed to the international human rights organizations to put pressure on India to release the Kashmiri political detainees and resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute according to the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. The meeting was attended among others by Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Mir Tahir Masood, Syed Aijaz Rehmani, Syed Mushtaq, Zahid Ashraf, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Muhammad Shafi Dar and Imtiaz Wani.
