Indian oppression touches new heights in IOK: Gilani

Srinagar, January 29, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that India has turned the territory into a battlefield where its oppression is touching new heights. Syed Ali Gilani in a telephonic address from Srinagar to the mourners of a martyred youth, Saqib Ahmed, in Arihal area of Pulwama said that New Delhi instead of accepting the ground realities was hell-bent to suppress the Kashmiris’ liberation struggle with its military might. He, however, said that for the past over 71 years, the worst kind of Indian state terrorism had failed to subdue the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiri people.

Senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in a statement in Srinagar deplored the silence of world community over gross and systematic human rights violations being committed by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

The APHC Secretary General, Ghulam Nabi Sumjhi, in a statement in Srinagar expressed grave concern over the deteriorating health of illegally detained Hurriyat leader, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, at Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu. The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party and the Jammu and Kashmir National Front in their statements condemned the ill-treatment meted out to the Kashmiri political prisoners in jails.

The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement in a statement in Srinagar denounced the re-arrest of its leader, Shakeel Ahmed Butt, by Indian police from outside Srinagar Central Jail, yesterday, soon after his release on court orders.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League visited Arihal area of Pulwama and expressed solidarity with the family of martyred Saqib Ahmed. The Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference at a meeting in Srinagar paid glowing tributes to all Kashmiri martyrs particularly those who laid down their lives during last year.

Indian troops launched a cordon and search operation in Ramgarh area of Samba district in Jammu region, today. On the other hand, Paris-based Reporters Without Borders in a statement posted on its website condemned the exclusion of several Kashmiri journalists from the coverage of a function in Srinagar by Indian police and said that barring these reporters was a serious violation of freedom of press.
