Indian photojournalist killed in Afghanistan

Kandahar, July 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):An Indian photojournalist, Danish Siddiqui, associated with Reuters, was killed in Afghanistan. The photojournalist was killed in the Spin Boldak region of Kandahar during clashes between government forces and Taliban, media reports said. However, more information regarding the incident was not available right away.

Over the last two days, Siddiqui has been reporting on the situation in Kandahar in the context of Afghanistan’s internal security situation. Siddiqui and his colleague Adnan Abidi won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography in 2018 for their coverage of the Rohingya refugee crisis. Meanwhile, tributes have poured in from all quarters for the journalist whose recent work on second wave of Covid-19 in India was widely acclaimed.
