Srinagar, February 18, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred four Kashmiris in Pulwama district, today. The martyrs including one 46-year-old Mushtaq Ahmad Butt were killed during a cordon and search operation by the troops in Pinglena area of the district. The killings led to clashes between the protesters and the troops in the area.
Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, the forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other Hurriyat leaders in their statements paid tributes to the martyrs. Five Indian soldiers including a Major identified as DS Dondial were killed and six including Deputy Inspector General of Police Amit Kumar , a brigadier, a Lt. Colonel and three soldiers were injured in an attack in the same area of Pulwama district.
The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the rampage and brutalities unleashed by India against the Muslims in Jammu. He said the Pulwama blast has put all the so-called secular and Hindutwa faces in the same basket, as no eye in India got moist when 55 innocent Kashmiris were roasted alive in Sopore and no all party meet was called on all such massacres.
Students of University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology staged a protest demonstration at Wadoora in Sopore over growing incidents of harassment and attacks on Kashmiris by Hindu mobs in Jammu and India. Protests were also held in Parray Pora area of Srinagar against the attacks on Kashmiris outside in the valley. At least 6000 Kashmiri Muslims have taken shelter in several mosques of Jammu district in the wake of fear of the attacks by Hindu mobs.
On the other hand, 200 youth turned up, today, at the Awami Action Committee’s office in Srinagar and volunteered themselves to guard Mirwaiz Umar Farooq a day after the authorities withdrew his security cover.
Meanwhile, the global rights watchdog, Amnesty International has urged Indian government to ensure that Kashmiri men and women do not face targeted attacks, harassment and arbitrary arrests in the aftermath of Pulwama blast. Aakar Patel, head of Amnesty India in a statement said Kashmiri university students and traders in northern Indian states, primarily Uttarakhand, Haryana and Bihar, have been beaten, threatened, and intimidated by Hindu nationalist groups.
Indian politician, Kamal Hassan, speaking at an event in Chennai asked India to hold a plebiscite in occupied Kashmir and make people talk. The retired judge of Indian Supreme Court, Markandey Katju, addressing a press conference at Kochi in Indian state of Kerala warned New Delhi that attempts by the armed forces to avenge the Pulwama blast from the Kashmiri people would lead to a Vietnam-like situation in Kashmir. Renowned Indian social activist and religious leader, Swami Agnivesh, in a media interview in Maharashtra said that no people from Pakistan came to carry out the Pulwama blast.
In Seoul, Korean professors addressing a workshop declared the use of pellet guns by the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir as contrary to the International Humanitarian Law. The event was organized by the Embassy of Pakistan at the Korean Press Club in Seoul.
