Indian troops martyr pregnant woman in IOK

Srinagar, October 20, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred a pregnant woman in Pulwama district. The woman identified as Firdousa Akhtar wife of Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh was critically injured when the troops resorted to indiscriminate firing after some unidentified persons lobbed a grenade on an army camp in Shadimarg area of the district. She was rushed to Rajpora hospital where from she was referred to Pulwama district hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Medical superintendent of the district hospital Abdur Rashid Parray told media that the woman was pronounced dead on arrival. “The woman was pregnant by five months,” he said. Meanwhile, the patron of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement, Farida Behenji in a statement in Srinagar, condemning the killing of a pregnant woman by Indian forces, said that India had crossed all limits of brutalities.

She also paid rich tributes to the youth martyred in Baramulla and Kakapura and said that killing and arrest could not weaken the freedom sentiment of Kashmiri people. She also visited the house of Hurriyat leader, Mohammad Yaseen Butt and condoled with him over the death of his mother.

The Chairperson of Muslim Khawateen Markaz, Yasmeen Raja, in her statement in Srinagar said the murder of a pregnant woman and other youth by the Indian forces is a gross violation of human rights. “By these killings and by the arbitrary measures India cannot break the resolve of Kashmiri people,” she added.
