India’s ED allowed to quiz jailed Hurriyat leaders, businessman

New Delhi, July 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): A Delhi Court has allowed the Indian Enforcement Directorate (ED) to quiz illegally detained six Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and a noted businessman in a fake case registered against them. Special Judge, Rakesh Syal, allowed the ED officers to interrogate the Hurriyat leaders, Peer Saifullah, Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Nayeem Ahmed Khan and the businessman, Zahoor Watali, on any two working days from July 10-30.

The court said Arun Kumar, Assistant Director, and Rajesh Kumar, Enforcement Officer of ED may interrogate and record statements of the detainees currently in judicial custody on any two working days for each person between July 10 and July 30 after giving due notice to all concerned. The court allowed the ED officers to carry case record and necessary stationery for the purpose. The concerned Jail Superintendent is directed to make necessary arrangement, the court said.
