Srinagar, January 09, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has said that India’s military approach towards the Kashmir dispute has brought death and destruction in the whole territory. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar maintained that the resistance being shown by the Kashmiri youth was a reaction to the aggressive military policy that India was pursuing for decades in the territory. He said such an approach is a threat to peace and harmony in South Asia. The APHC Chairman said that the resolution of the Kashmir dispute would usher in a new era of peace, stability and development in the entire region.
The Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar strongly condemned the continued harassment of people during cordon and search operations across the territory. The statement said that during these military operations people of all ages including elderly, women and children were asked to stay outdoors in the biting cold for hours together. However, the forum pointed out that despite unleashing the worst kind of state terrorism, India had failed to suppress the Kashmiris’ resolve to get freedom from its yoke.
The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir, Abdul Hameed Fayaz, addressing a meeting of district heads in Srinagar, today, called for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute through tripartite talks in line with the UN resolutions. The personnel of Indian army, paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operation Group jointly launched a cordon and search operation in Heff area of Shopian district, today. The authorities suspended internet service as a precautionary measure to prevent the protests against the operation.
Massive protest demonstrations were held against the gang rape of a minor Muslim girl in Ramban district of Jammu region. Leaders of religious organizations, social activists and members of several NGOs held separate protests on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Ramsoo and district office complex, Maitra against the incident.
Meanwhile, a Kashmiri youth from Kupwara, Shah Faisal, who topped Indian Administrative Service examination in 2009, resigned from his job, today, to protest against the unabated killings by the Indian forces in Kashmir. He took to his Facebook account and wrote that lack of any sincere reach-out from Indian government and the marginalization of around 200 million Indian Muslims at the hands of Hindutva forces were also the causes of his resignation from Indian Administrative Service.
