The conclusion of a 10day nationwide goods transporters’ strike has brought significant relief to the business community, averting further economic strain caused by critical supply chain disruptions and slowed industrial activity?
According to the information by Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) President Muhammad Ikram Rajput, traders and industrialists across the country have breathed a sigh of relief, as the prolonged industrial action had created widespread economic uncertainty and an adverse business environment.
Rajput explained that the standoff had severely impacted manufacturing, with disruptions in the supply of raw materials significantly reducing the production capacity of factories. Concurrently, delays in the delivery of finished goods led to market shortages and an increase in prices that affected industrialists and the general public alike.
He described the resolution of the dispute following successful negotiations between government officials and transporters as a positive development. Praising the government’s role, Rajput stated that its timely intervention and serious dialogue were instrumental in resolving the issue, demonstrating that complex challenges can be addressed through consensus.
The KATI president also commended the leadership of the goods transporters for prioritizing the national interest and opting for dialogue to settle the matter. He emphasized that the transport sector serves as the backbone of the national economy and its uninterrupted operation is essential for sustained industrial growth.
With confidence gradually returning to the business community, Rajput expressed hope that transporters would refrain from any future actions that could once again place the economy under duress.
