LARKANA:Many posts of Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) (BPS-17) are occupied by junior inspectors of BPS-16 in Larkana district in sheer violation of superior court orders and the instructions of Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, due to political intervention.

Many police stations are also being run by constables who have been posted to work as Writing Head Constables (WHCs) which is vivid proof of bad governance in the home district of martyred Bhutto leaders, PPI learnt here on Monday.

According to details, the post of DSP Market Police Station is occupied by Inspector Meeran Khan Durrani who is in BPS-16 whereas the post of DSP Civil Lines is occupied by Inspector Gulzar Abro who too is in BPS-16. Inspector Mir Imdad Talpur BPS-16 is posted as DSP Ratodero and Inspector Ihsan Buledi (BPS-16) is posted as DSP Dokri and Inspector Agha Shakeel Pathan (BPS-16) is posted as DSP Bakrani.

Similarly, politically influential constables have also been posted as WHCs at various police stations in open and daring violation of police rules. They include constable Ahmed Bux Siyal at Dhamrah police station, Rashid Ali Chandio at Lashari police station at Banguldero, Wasim Raja Soomro at Ratodero police station, Zulfiqar Jat at Garello police station, Qurban Unar at Veehar police station, Rashid Jatoi and Sadam Bhutto at Madadgar Base-I and II respectively, Aijaz Khuhawar at Traffic Zone-II, Fazal Hussain Gadhi at Allahabad police station, Nisar Siyal at Hyderi police station, constable Shahid Gopang at Kanga police station and others.

Residents of Larkana including Juman Shaikh, Raja Umrani, Muhammad Ali Junejo, Ghulamullah Soomro and others have wondered when transfers and postings are not made on merit to establish good governance then how can peace be maintained and criminals eliminated in the district.

They alleged no legal work is carried out without giving illegal gratification at the police stations and worst affected are the Primary School Teachers (PSTs) who have recently been given offer letters and asked for police verification. They said that when e-policing has been established in Sindh then why online verification certificates are not issued to them. They further alleged that these candidates have to pay between Rs500 to 1000 everywhere which is unjust and needs to be probed thoroughly.
