Shikarpur police claimed to have killed one inter-provincial gang’s dacoit in an encounter near Shikarpur on Thursday.

According to a police report, the encounter occurred within the jurisdiction of Sultankot Police Station, near Dost Waah. In the shootout, one dacoit identified as Dilshad Surhiyani of Kandhkot District was killed.

However, the gang members managed to take away the body of killed dacoit Dilshad Surhiyani with them. The escapees were later identified as Asghar Marfani, Nawaz alias Adharr Marfani, Basheer Marfani, and Shahmore Marfani.

The police has launched a search operation, cordoning off the area in an attempt to capture the fleeing dacoits. SSP Shikarpur Shahzeb Chachar confirmed that the authorities were working to arrest the suspects soon.

Surhiyani was reportedly involved in the illegal inter-provincial smuggling of arms and drugs, according to the SSP. However, by the time the report was filed, no recovery of the deceased’s body or arrests of the remaining dacoits could be made.
