Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi asserted that a small number of “troublemakers” are acting at the behest of hostile forces to disrupt peace in Azad Kashmir, following his visit to police personnel wounded in recent clashes in the region.

On Thursday, the interior minister met with 43 officers from the Islamabad and Azad Kashmir police forces currently receiving treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). He personally approached each wounded officer to check on their well-being and pledge the government’s complete backing.

Naqvi directed the hospital leadership to ensure the highest standard of medical care for the injured personnel, commending their courage. “You performed your duties with remarkable bravery, patience, and determination despite facing violence. You are the pride of Pakistan, and we salute your sacrifice,’ he stated.

In addition to his instructions for PIMS, the minister tasked the Chief Commissioner and Inspector General of Islamabad Police with providing special attention to the AJK police officers under their care.

While emphasizing that peaceful protest is a constitutional right, Naqvi issued a stern warning that no one would be permitted to take the law into their own hands. He affirmed that the ‘malicious designs’ of agitators would not be successful.

‘The hearts of Pakistanis beat with their Kashmiri brothers, and the government stands ready to resolve their genuine grievances,’ he added, reassuring the public of the administration’s commitment.

The minister was accompanied by senior officials, including the Islamabad Chief Commissioner and IG of Police. Currently, 31 Islamabad Police officers and 12 AJK Police officers are being treated for injuries at the medical facility.
