Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday directed the Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa to ensure swift water drainage in low-lying areas of Islamabad following the torrential rainfall.

The Interior Minister also directed the Chairman CDA to utilize all resources to drain water from the streets and to personally oversee the drainage work. He instructed the police to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

On the Minister’s directives, Chairman CDA visited various locations to review the drainage work. The Chairman CDA directed CDA, MCI (Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad), and district administration officials to remain in the field until the drainage work is completed.

He said CDA’s team is working diligently to drain water from the roads. He informed that Special teams of CDA, MCI, and district administration have been deployed in sectoral and non-sectoral areas, and all emergency response centers in Islamabad have been activated.

He apprised that instructions have been given to ensure swift water drainage at underpasses and other places. According to the CDA administration, citizens can contact Helpline numbers in case of any emergency situation.
