Interior minister rejects Indian accusation of infiltration in occupied Kashmir

Islamabad, August 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Tuesday rejected as baseless the Indian allegation about Pakistan’s interference in Indian illegally occupied Kashmir. “There is no interference from Pakistan’s side and India’s accusation is false,” he told a press conference here. The minister reiterated Pakistan’s political and moral support for the struggle of Kashmiris to achieve their internationally recognised right to self-determination.

Sheikh Rashid’s rebuttal came a day after Indian Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt claimed during a speech in the Rajya Sabha – the upper house of India’s parliament – that there were 33 infiltration attempts at the de facto border in the first six months of 2021. He said the accusation was manifestation of India’s “irresponsible approach” and it was indicative of its intention to keep Pakistan engaged on multiple fronts.

“It means that our suspicions that they (India) want to create problems for us on both eastern and western borders are true,” he remarked. The minister said there was no question of any militant crossing over into occupied Kashmir and challenged India to come up with evidence to substantiate the “pack of lies”.
