Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of a 7-year-old girl from a kite string in the area under the jurisdiction of Islamabad’s Khanna Police Station.

In a statement here on Tuesday, the Interior Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and stated that we equally share their grief.

While taking notice of the unfortunate incident, the Interior Minister sought report from the Inspector General Police Islamabad and directed strict action against the culprits.

He directed the Islamabad Police to ensure strict implementation of the ban on kite flying, adding that indiscriminate action must be taken against the violators.

Consequently, Islamabad Police, on the directions of the Interior Minister, conducted a crackdown on kite flyers in the areas adjacent to Rawalpindi in which 23 people were arrested during 39 raids.
