The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, has appealed to the international community to focus on the ongoing human rights issues in Kashmir. This appeal was made during his meeting with Zahid Hashmi, President of Kashmir Peace Forum International Europe, at the Kashmir House.
Chaudhry emphasized the serious human rights violations occurring in the region since August 5, 2019, and stated that immediate global attention is needed. He highlighted the importance of a strategic approach to the Kashmir issue for peace in South Asia and stressed the need to include Kashmiris in peace negotiations to reach a sustainable solution.
The conversation also touched upon India’s attempts to alter the demographic balance of the occupied Kashmir, which Chaudhry described as an effort to gain complete dominance over the region. He said that Kashmiris, especially those residing in Europe, need to unite and strengthen their campaign to ensure their right to self-determination under United Nations resolutions.
The meeting explored opportunities for cooperation between Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmir Peace Forum International Europe. Hashmi extended an invitation to President Chaudhry to visit France, which was accepted, indicating a European tour aimed at garnering international support for the Kashmir issue and establishing direct contact with global stakeholders.
