LARKANA:  A colorful ceremony was inaugurated at the Gomi Bai Ladies Club here on Saturday to mark the International Women’s Day, which was jointly inaugurated by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Ahmed Ali Soomro, President of the Ladies Club, Freeda Pechuho and others by cutting ribbon while women from the city, students from different schools, female teachers and ladies from different fields attended the ceremony.

 

Food stalls at the festival were set up including garments, jewelry, hairdressers, toys and other items where women shopped and enjoyed a lot. Speaking on the occasion, AC Soomro said that half of the population of our country is women. He said a woman is the most beautiful invention and without her world is incomplete. He said a woman is also a sister, the daughter and a life partner and in every form the woman plays her role with the best.

 

He said behind every successful man is the labor of the woman. He said that this society will never grow up untill and unless women are declined education adding Islam has given women a great status. He said that Islam has given women the freedom to do business, given them their inheritance, but they greatly lack education and we should give education to girls for our own better tomorrow. He said the latest research has proved that women are more laborious than men.

 

President Freeda Pachoho said every color of the world is dark without women, the Ladies Club provides the best platform for Larkana women, celebrating International Women’s Day every year who are working in different fields. Women belonging to the country are given the opportunity to express their views and are encouraged so that they can play a better role in the society. She said marching on the roads is not a good practice for a woman, women can play a role in improving the society by giving good guidance to their children while staying in their homes. “In our society, the rights of women are waged; incidents of violence, sexual harassment and murder against women are increasing adding there are many laws, but they cannot be implemented so justice requirements are not met,” she said.

 

Dr. Sakina Gad, General Secretary of the Club said that many women belonging to Larkana including Shaheed Benazir Bhutto have mentioned the name of Larkana in various fields. Every year on a daily basis, we pay tribute to women working in medical, engineering, politics and other fields, Sakina said. She said that abusive behavior towards women has been a major hindrance in the development of our society. Prevent sexual harassment, torture, harassment and other various forms of injustice against women, because of this country without women cannot progress and the world cannot grow.
