IOK Bar grills pro-rapist Gupta for shameful remarks

Srinagar, May 02, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has strongly condemned the remarks made by newly sworn-in puppet Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta, that kidnapping, rape and murder of the eight-year-old Kathua girl is a “small matter” which should not have been given such a big hype.

The Bar Association in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “At a time when the civilized people of the world have condemned the gruesome act and have demanded death penalty to those who held the girl captive for a week in a temple, administered drugs and repeatedly raped and later killed her, the remarks made by Kavinder Gupta who claims to have been an active member of RSS from 13 years of age, are shameful and deserve condemnation by one and all.”

The statement maintained that every woman was entitled to due respect and regard and the men were responsible to protect her from the onslaught of attacking her modesty or committing an act of rape on her or kill her to escape from the consequence of their beastly act and anyone who was found guilty should be given death penalty so that the others learn a lesson from the same.

“Kavinder Gupta, who has been Speaker of the Legislative Assembly for the last more than three years and is now the Deputy Chief Minister in the coalition government and must be definitely a father of a daughter, should have shown respect and regard for the eight-year old nomadic girl as well, but he having described the incident as a small one, has only lowered down his image not only amongst the members of his family but also in the entire civilized society of the world,” the HCBA added.

Meanwhile, the Bar Association strongly condemned the killing of three persons including a youth, who had been released from detention a fortnight back, at Khanpora in Baramulla by unidentified gunmen and demanded impartial probe in the matter.
