Srinagar, January 26, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, journalists held a sit-in protest and rally, today, against barring senior media persons from covering the function of Indian Republic Day in Srinagar by the police. The police prevented five journalists from entering a stadium in Srinagar to cover the Indian Republic Day function despite valid security passes issued to them by the authorities.
The journalists marched from Press Club to Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk and staged a sit-in protest. The protesting journalists condemned the barring of senior journalists from covering the Republic Day function held at a cricket stadium in Sonawar area of Srinagar.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) in a statement in Srinagar strongly condemning the incident called for strong action against the police officials involved in the act.
