In a bid to ensure the provision of quality salt in the federal capital, the Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) has intensified inspections across the city.

According to officials, the authority conducted inspections of 11 salt processing units. Out of these, nine units were cleared after meeting safety and hygiene standards, while three units failed the quality tests and were subsequently sealed by the inspection team.

‘Salt is a fundamental ingredient in all food items, and there can be no compromise on its quality,’ emphasized Dr Tahira Siddique, a senior official at the IFA. She added that maintaining salt standards is crucial for public health and the authority remains committed to strict enforcement.

Deputy Director of Islamabad Food Authority further announced that salt unit inspections will now be conducted on a weekly basis to maintain consistent oversight.
