Islamabad police conducted a flag march across the capital on Friday to demonstrate their commitment to preserving peace and fostering unity during Muharram, under the guidance of Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.
Led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Muhammad Shoaib Khan, the march involved officers from various law enforcement agencies. Starting from the Pakistan Sports Complex, the procession traversed several city routes before concluding at its origin.
The demonstration aimed to showcase the department’s dedication to upholding law and order throughout Muharram and to encourage religious harmony, according to a police representative.
Extensive security measures are being implemented for all religious gatherings and processions within the city. Officials are also diligently enforcing the Muharram code of conduct and standard operating procedures.
Authorities are closely monitoring social media activity and will take decisive legal action against those promoting religious or sectarian discord. The police affirmed that no one would be permitted to bypass the law, and any infractions would face legal consequences.
The Islamabad Police anticipates full cooperation from residents in maintaining peace and harmony during this period.
