The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will implement a cashless system for public services to enhance transparency and efficiency, announced Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Wednesday. The decision, following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, aims to modernize payment methods for services including property tax, water bills, land transfers, and parking fees.
A high-level meeting at CDA headquarters, attended by senior officials including Member Admin and Member Estate Talat Mehmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, and Member Planning Dr Khalid Hafiz, finalized the plan. The initiative involves integrating QR code-based payments across all CDA departments.
Randhawa stated that the cashless system will streamline public services, making them more convenient and faster. He views the move as a key step towards transforming Islamabad into a “smart capital city.”
The CDA plans to collaborate with banks to develop online portals and mobile applications, launch public awareness programs, and train staff to support the transition. QR code payment systems will be available at CDA offices and facilitation centers, including the One-Window Facilitation Center. Randhawa instructed departments to ensure citizens have access to the best digital transaction facilities for seamless cashless payments.
