ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police on Saturday formed a joint investigation team (JIT) to investigate a suicide blast occurred in Sector I-10 of the federal capital on Friday in which a police head constable was martyred and two terrorists were killed.

DIG (Operations) Sohail Zafar Chatta issued a notification in this regard. The eight-member JIT will be headed by the SSP Counter Terrorism Department, while SP Industrial Area, SDPO Sabzi Manid, and officers of intelligence departments will be part of it.

A case of suicide bombing was registered at Sabzi Mandi police station in the federal capital late Friday under various sections, including charges of terrorism and murder.

A policeman was martyred and at least six people- including four police officers and two civilians- were injured in a suicide blast in Islamabad’s I-10/4 sector on Friday morning. The outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had claimed responsibility for the attack.
