JKPL urges world HR bodies to ensure release of ailing Sehrai

Srinagar, May 05, 2021 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) has expressed concern over the deteriorating health condition of illegally detained Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, and other Kashmiri political prisoners in jails.

The JKPL spokesman, Sayar Ahmed, in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Mohammed Ashraf Sehrai was booked under draconian law Public Safety Act on July 12, 2020 and was shifted to Udhampur Jail in Jammu. Already ailing Sehrai’s health continued to deteriorate in jail.

The spokesman while quoting family members of the ailing leader said that from the past few days Sehrai fell seriously ill. He was taken to district hospital, Udhampur, and then he was shifted to GMC Jammu where he is currently undergoing treatment.

He urged the world human rights bodies to take cognizance to ensure that all political prisoners including Ashraf Sehrai are released forthwith for the safety of their life. Meanwhile, the JKPL expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of resistance activist, Nazir Ahmad Tinda, in Islamabad town.
