Srinagar, February 06, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has called for complete shutdown on 9th February and 11th February, against the hanging of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru. In a joint statement JRL said that on martyrdom day of Muhammad Afzal Guru Friday, 9th April peaceful protests should be staged across the territory to press on the demand of returning mortal remains of these martyrs.
They said on 11th February martyrdom anniversary of Muhammad Maqbool Butt a joint memorandum will be submitted to UNO Sonawar office asking it to urge India to return the mortal remains of Guru and Butt. JRL said that the struggle and sacrifices rendered by great leaders of Kashmiri freedom struggle martyrs Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Shaheed Muhammad Afzal Guru is a glorious chapter of our resistance history.
Meanwhile, puppet authorities on Tuesday evening placed Hurriyat Forum chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest. After the house arrest Mirwaiz confirmed in tweet “crackdown against the Hurriyat leadership.”
