RAWALPINDI:The matter involving the accident of the vehicle belonging to Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Maulana Abdul Shakoor is of sensitive nature, according a statement by JUI leader Haji Qudratullah on Sunday. The leader submitted a request to the police station secretariat to demand a full investigation into the incident.

Qudratullah wrote in the application that the minister had come to his house for Iftar and left for his residence around 10pm clock. The federal minister called him after the accident, which was caused by a high-speed vehicle hitting his car, showing extreme carelessness and recklessness. The JUI demanded that strict legal action should be taken against all the people in the speeding vehicle, and a full investigation should be conducted. Mufti Abdul Shakoor was shifted to Polyclinic Hospital due to severe injuries from the accident on Dastur Highway in Islamabad, but unfortunately, he could not recover.

The traffic police have prepared an initial report, which has been sent to IG Islamabad, stating that the cause of the accident was speeding. Meanwhile, the details of the occupants of the vehicle that hit the minister’s car have been revealed. Five people, including the driver, have been arrested, out of which three are hospitalized with injuries. The driver, identified as Rao Gul Khan from Sahala Gagari, Islamabad, had his license and vehicle registration card revealed.
