ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police, in the wee hours of Friday, released two JUI-F MNAs Maulana Jamaluddin and Salahuddin Ayubi as well as over a dozen workers, after a country wide protest.
Both the JUI-F lawmakers and workers of Ansar-ul-Islam- a uniformed volunteer force of the JUI-F, were arrested during a police operation inside the Parliament Lodges on late Thursday evening. According to police, the JUI-F lawmakers and workers were released on furnishing bail bonds and personal guarantees.
Just after the police stormed the Parliament Lodges and made arrests, the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman had made a fiery speech and called a countrywide protest. He had instructed the party workers to stage a demonstration until the release of their lawmakers and workers.
Later, in the late-night, the JUI-F chief called off the protest until morning and demanded to release the arrested party workers. Meanwhile, in the wee hours of Friday, the police released all the party leaders and workers, thus the JUI-F announced to call-off the strike.

Meanwhile, the JUI-F Senator and former President Supreme Court Bar Association Kamran Murtaza, who also sustained injuries during the police action, along with a group of lawyers, has filed a complaint with the Secretariat Police Station against the police operation inside the Parliament Lodges.
He has sought registration of an FIR after getting medical treatment. In his application, he stated that the Islamabad Police abducted MNA Sallahuddin Ayubi, MNA Jamal Uddin and their guests from the Parliament Lodges on Thursday.
He stated that the police officers smashed down MNA Salahuddin Ayubi’s lodge and entered the premises without any search warrants or the permission of the National Assembly speaker to enter the lodge. He further stated that the police tortured him and others including MNAs Saad Rafiq and Rafiullah. He said the MNAs were injured as a result of police action.
