Karachi fire damages over 500 abandoned vehicles

KARACHI: A big warehouse fire in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of Karachi damaged 500 vehicles including cars and bikes on Sunday. However, no loss of life was reported.

According to a report, the fire erupted in the bushes which engulfed the warehouse in Block-10 of Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the metropolis, where hundreds of abandoned vehicles were parked. More than 500 abandoned vehicles, including seven cars, a bus, three rickshaws, tri-wheel rickshaws, motorcycles and other vehicles, were burnt in the fire. The fire spread panic among the public of the area.

On information, police, local administration, six fire tenders and a bowser rushed to the scene and extinguished the fire after hectic efforts for hours. The fire department officials said that the fire had been put out and the situation was under control. The officials said they would determine the damage caused by the blaze following the cooling process.
