KARACHI: Sindh Health Department has put Karachi hospitals on high alert after issuance of health advisory about heatwave by Pakistan Meteorological Centre Karachi.
According to a DG health letter, the Directorate General Health Services Sindh has directed for implementation of 24/7 emergency in all hospitals and health facilities, besides establishment of special heatwave wards for managing heat stroke cases and launching of heatwave awareness campaign and provision of 24/7 ambulance service.
The heads of hospitals have been instructed to ensure availability of all essential medicines along with I/V drips, cannulas and ORS for managing heatwave affected patients and for increasing medical and paramedical staff where needed accordingly.
The leave of doctors, nurses and paramedical staff have also been cancelled and no leave will be allowed for a week.
