Karachi, January 15, 2018 (PPI-OT):Expressing acute displeasure on the present revenue recovery condition in KMC, the Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar has again warned the departmental heads to bring improvement in the situation in next six months of the current financial year or the department head will be replaced on account of failure in recovery target.
He was chairing a meeting with the revenue recovery department heads and the members of the revenue monitoring committee in his office which was also attended by the municipal commissioner Dr. Asghar Abbas, chairman land committee Syed Arshad Hassan, chairman finance committee Nadeem Hidayat Hashmi and other officers. Mayor Karachi directed that speedy recovery must be ensured by removing any elements affecting the recovery process and the recovery of each department will be deposited in separate bank account for which information would be provided to the competent authority through SMS service.
He said that in order to ensure rapid process on the files pertaining to revenue and recovery a separate color file should be introduced so that action on it could be taken immediately. He said that in view of the total recovery in the current and previous years, revenue increase from KMC own resources should be focused. During the meeting matters regarding various departments including veterinary, katchi abadies, engineering, anti encroachments, MUCT were came under discussion and directives issued. It was decided that the pending matters with the DMCs, DCK and LG (Sindh) shall be presented for review without delay so these could be resolved now.
The monitoring committee shall also review the disagreement between KMC and DMCs regarding markets and bus stops. It was decided that KMC will charge the road cutting charges on its 78 roads excluding the area of Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Mayor Karachi urged the officers to do their best to bring considerable change in the present revenue recovery condition by taking necessary measures.
