KARACHI:The Karachi police on Sunday claimed to have arrested more than 1,060 suspects during raids in Karachi’s East, West and South Zones during last week.

According to police sources, Karachi police conducted successful cracks down on street criminals, drug dealers and fugitives to curb crime in the city. The Police arrested a total of more than 1,060 suspects during raids in Karachi’s East, West and South Zones last week.

The police claimed to have seized 328 kg 575 grams of hashish, 05 kg 741 grams of ice / crystal and 435 grams of heroin worth millions of rupees during the anti-drug drive in different areas. More than 137 different types of illegal weapons along with ammunition used in looting and other incidents were seized from the arrested street criminals, the police officials said.

During the anti-crime activities in the city, 01 encounter took place between the accused and the police. In the exchange of fire, 01 dacoit was arrested in an injured condition. During operations in different areas of the city, the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell arrested 15 car / motorcycle lifters and recovered 07 snatched / stolen motorcycles and 04 vehicles.

Karachi police conducted operations in different areas and seized a total of 64 snatched and stolen motorcycles and 17 vehicles. The Special Investigation Unit Karachi arrested 09 accused involved in serious crimes and seized 06 pistols and 02 kg of hashish. The police vowed continue efforts for the elimination of terrorism, restoration of law and order and protection of the people.
