Karachi police arrest 834 suspects within a week

KARACHI: Karachi police on Sunday claimed to have arrested more than 834 street criminals, drug dealers and fugitives to curb crime in the city. According to police sources, Karachi police conducted successful crack down on street criminals, drug dealers and fugitives to curb crime in the city. The police arrested a total of more than 834 suspects during raids in Karachi’s East, West and South Zones last week. During anti-drug drive in different areas, police recovered 153 kg of hashish, 01 kg 565 gram ice / crystal, 5 kg heroin and 518 gram opium worth millions of rupees.

The police said that more than 137 different types of illegal weapons along with ammunition and 06 grenades used in looting and other incidents were seized from the arrested street criminals.
During the anti-crime operations in the city, 09 encounters were held with the accused in which one dacoit was killed and 12 others were injured in the exchange of fire while two stolen motorcycles and 13 pistols with magazines were recovered from the arrested accused.

The Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell arrested 09 car lifters in different operations and seized 06 stolen vehicles. Karachi police, while conducting operations in different areas, seized a total of 39 snatched and stolen motorcycles and 06 vehicles. The Special Investigation Unit Karachi arrested 10 accused involved in serious crimes and seized 08 pistols and 01 kg of hashish.
