Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has committed to implementing preventative measures to eliminate the need for repeated post-rain cleanups at Karachi”s ports.

In an official declaration, he noted Karachi and Qasim ports are significantly affected by pollution after substantial rainfall.

Chaudhry announced that storm water treatment facilities will be constructed at the harbors to prevent polluted runoff from reaching the ocean. This initiative aims to safeguard the marine ecosystem and reduce the environmental impact of heavy downpours. The minister”s commitment signals a proactive approach to addressing the recurring issue of port contamination.
