Kashmir Solidarity Day” Observed in Cairo

Islamabad, February 06, 2019 (PPI-OT): Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed in Cairo on 05 February 2019. A seminar was organized on the occasion, which was attended by scholars, media representatives, students and prominent Pakistanis. Those who addressed the seminar included; Ambassador Fathy Yousaf, President Pakistan-Egypt Friendship Association, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammad Ibrahim, Head of Urdu Department, Faculty of Humanities, Al-Azhar University, Mr. Ashraf Sadek, Senior Journalist at Daily Egyptian Gazettte, Mr. Sayed El-Hani, Senior Columnist at Daily Al-Gamhouria Newspaper, Dr. Hanaa Abdel Fattah, Urdu Professor, Al-Azhar University and Yasmin Jaber, Student, Al-Azhar University, says a press release received here today from Cairo.

The students of Pakistan International School presented a tableau, depicting Indian killings in Kashmir. In their remarks, the speakers pointed out that Kashmir was not a bilateral issue of India and Pakistan but an issue of entire Muslim Ummah and wondered how India could be allowed to seek a permanent seat at the United Nationals Security Council (UNSC) while it continued to ignore the Council’s resolutions on Kashmir.

They also reiterated full support to the struggle of Kashmiri people, which they compared with the struggle of Palestinians for their right of self-determination. In his remarks, H.E. Ambassador Mushtaq Ali Shah highlighted the last year’s reports by the Office of the High Commissioner on Human Rights (OHCHR) and the UK Parliament’s All Parties Parliamentary Kashmir Group (APPKG), which underscored the growing realization in the international community about the fallacy of Indian claim.
