Kashmiri nation feels orphaned after Syed Ali Gilani’s death: DFP

Srinagar, September 04, 2021 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has said that the entire Islamic world is mourning the passing away of icon of Kashmir freedom movement, Syed Ali Gilani, and his demise is nothing short of a test, especially for freedom loving Kashmiris.

The DFP in a statement issued in Srinagar said Syed Ali Gilani was the heartbeat of every freedom loving person that’s why every Kashmiri is deeply hurt by his demise. “Since Gilani has left us so, the entire Kashmiri nation feels like orphaned. His struggle for freedom is an open book from which the freedom fighters here will continue to learn for a long time. His, perseverance, steadfastness patience and sincerity are his hallmarks and will serve as beacons for generations to come,” it said.

The statement said Syed Ali Gilani was subjected to physical and psychological torture by the occupational forces but he stood firm like a rock and demanded the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir till his last breath. The incarcerated Chairman of DFP, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, remained close to the veteran leader for a long time, it added.

The DFP deplored that India, which is not tired of playing drama of so-called democracy all over the world, imposed strict curfew to stop people from offering funeral prayers of Syed Ali Gilani. “Indian men in uniform forcibly removed his body from his home and buried quietly in the dark of night, even preventing close relatives from fulfilling Syed Ali Gilani’s will. Shameful for India and its local stooges that Kashmiri people were prevented from performing the last rites of their beloved leader,” it said.

The statement said, “Gilani Sahib is no longer with us. We all Kashmiris are in grief and shock and we pray Allah to accept the good deeds of the deceased and bestow upon him special forgiveness. The best way to pay homage to late Syed Ali Gilani is to firmly stand on the path of struggle which will lead us to complete freedom from India.”

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Young Mens League in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Syed Ali Gilani, who had given his whole life to the Kashmir freedom struggle, would always be remembered as the one who never ever compromised on his stand. His death is a great loss to the freedom movement, it said.

The JKYML condemned the occupation authorities for imposing curfew in IIOJK and disallowing people to attend the funeral prayers of the great leader. It said the best tribute to Syed Ali Gilani is that the resistance movement shall continue till the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir from Indian yoke.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of Tehreek-e-Istiqlal, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt and General Secretary, Abdul Hameed, in a joint statement issued in Islamabad paid homage to Syed Ali Gilani. They said the struggle and sacrifices of Syed Ali Gilani will always inspire all the oppressed people of the world.
