Mohali, September 23, 2018 (PPI-OT): Kashmiri students blocked Chandigarh-Ludhiana Highway at Mohali after one of their classmates was assaulted by unknown persons inside a college at Mohalli in Indian state of Punjab. Over 200 Kashmiri students after registering a protest in the premises of Adesh Institute of Technology and Management in Mohalli, hit the streets demanding action against the assailants who attacked a newly Kashmiri entrant inside the college.
The protesting Kashmiri students said that Masroor Ahmed, of Adigam Kokernag got admission in the college a few days ago. “Yesterday, when Masroor, 1st Semester student of BBA came out from hostel to fetch drinking water, he was attacked by unknown youth with knives. Masroor has received multiple injuries in his chest, head and arms,” the students said.
They added that police recorded the statement of Masroor Ahmed at Sarswati Hospital but didn’t register any FIR as college administration wanted to hush up the matter. The students said that neither college faculty nor police arrived on the spot of protest. It is worth mentioning here that Kashmiri students studying in different institutions of India face attacks, mostly by Hindu extremists, on daily basis. Ironically, these attacks are carried out with tacit approval of Indian administration and police.
