Kashmiri students refuse to stand up for Indian anthem

Srinagar, July 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the students of Central University of Kashmir brushed aside the protocol for Indian national anthem by refusing to stand up during an event. The university was organizing its first convocation on Wednesday and the event kicked off by playing the national anthem of India, however, the students did not stand up, as a show of respect.

A video of the surprising scenes was uploaded on social media, showing students indifferent to the protocol. A few of the other Kashmiris dished in on the matter by stating that there was a complete discord between India and Kashmir and the latter had their own traditions and culture and the Indian anthem did not belong to them.
