KCEU holds signatures camp on Kashmir in Brussels

Brussels, May 21, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU) organized, today, a one-day camp in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, in connection with its Europe based one-million signature campaign on Kashmir. During the camp held in front of central railways station in Brussels, the Europeans showed their keen interest in the event and expressed solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir. The organizers of the camp called upon the international community including the United Nations and European Union to send their fact finding delegations to occupied Kashmir. They informed the visitors that Indian forces have been violating the international laws by committing brutal atrocities against the peaceful Kashmiri people for the past more than seven decades.

The KCEU Chairman, Ali Raza Syed, on the occasion said that the purpose of the signature campaign was to highlight the Indian atrocities against the people of the occupied territory. He paid glowing tributes to martyred Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lon, as well as martyrs of Hawal on their martyrdom anniversaries. He said, these people sacrificed their lives for the freedom cause and their sacrifices would not go waste.

Ali Raza Syed said the people of Kashmir are struggling peacefully for their right of self-determination and there should be plebiscite under the UN supervision to enable them to decide their fate by themselves. He deplored that the Indian authorities were using brute force to suppress the Kashmiris’ just struggle. He also condemned he illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists.

The KCEU Chairman urged the European Union to play its role for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He urged the EU to immediately intervene to stop human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir. It is to mention here that the signature campaign was launched in Europe many years ago in order to obtain one million signatures in favour of the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir.
