The much-awaited reconstruction of the 20 kilometers long Garho-Keti Bandar road begun today after 18 years, with an allocation of Rs1.5 billion.

The deteriorated condition of the road had caused hardships to the locals and businessmen, particularly those involved in maritime trade.

The project, initiated by Provincial Minister for Prisons Haji Ali Hasan Zardari, was officially inaugurated in Garho. Local residents warmly welcomed the minister during the ceremony.

Speaking to the media, minister Ali highlighted the challenges faced by the people due to the road’s poor condition. “For 18 years, this road has been a torment for the public, causing severe difficulties in travel and trade. The approval of Rs1.5 billion for this scheme by the Sindh government will now provide much-needed relief with better travel facilities,” he stated.

The minister also provided updates on the ongoing Coastal Highway project, which aims to connect coastal regions with urban centers and mitigate the encroachment of seawater on agricultural land. Additionally, he mentioned the work on KB Feeder project, a Rs40 billion initiative had been started, and this project would ensure an ample water supply to the people of Thatta for drinking and agricultural purposes.
