Killing of civilians by Indian troops in IOK condemned

Srinagar, February 01, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have strongly condemned the killing of innocent civilians by Indian troops in the territory. The troops had killed two youth, Javaid Ahmed Butt (20) and Suhail Javaid Lone (24), and injured several others by opening indiscriminate fire on peaceful protesters in Ganowpora area of Shopian on Saturday (January 27). One of the critically injured Rayees Ahmed Ganai (19) succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Srinagar on Wednesday.

The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, in his telephonic address to the mourners paid rich tributes to Rayees Ahmed Ganai and martyred youth. He said that Indian soldiers had been killing the innocent Kashmiris on daily basis for the past several decades but could not suppress freedom sentiment of the Kashmiri people.

The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in his twitter message said, “Third youth injured in army’s firing in Shopian, Rayees Ahmed, succumbed to injuries! Our hearts bleed! Every day we carry the coffins of our youth on our shoulders! There is hardly any village or lane in Kashmir which hasn’t been turned red with the blood of innocents.”

Paerwan-e-Wilayat in its statement denouncing the cold-blooded murder of civilians in Shopian said that killings, arrests and other brutal tactics by India could not suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing liberation movement and they would take it to its logical conclusion at all costs.
