KARACHI:Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that Rabi-ul-Awwal is a blessed month, it is the right of every citizen to celebrate the arrival of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). In connection with the arrangements for Rabi-ul-Awwal, coordination underway with various civic organization, it is important to identify the problems related to the arrangements of Rabiul Awwal by the scholars, all the problems will be solved through mutual consultation and through concerned organizations.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting held in connection with the arrangements for Rabi-ul-Awwal at Frere Hall lawn on Tuesday evening. On this occasion, Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Additional IG Khadim Hussain Rind, Municipal Commissioner Afzal Zaidi, SSP. Irfan Bahadur and other SSPs, Project Director Sindh Solid Waste Management Board Syed Imtiaz Shah, Chief Executive Water Corporation Asadullah, Karamullah Waqasi, Dil Muhammad and other officers and elected representatives were also present.
In the meeting, the scholars and the organizers of the main processions and rallies of Rabi-ul-Awwal informed the mayor of Karachi about the problems of the city and requested for immediate solutions, most of the problems were related to cleanliness, traffic management, load shedding, road maintenance, drain cleaning and water and sewage system.
Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that he is well aware of the problems of the city and for their sustainable solution a series of development works have been started across the city, we are trying hard to complete all the works as soon as possible, he said next year meetings will be held three months in advance for the arrangements of Rabi-ul-Awwal and Muharram-ul-Harram.
He said KMC will perform all works at the main roads whereas it is the responsibility of the town administration to make arrangements in the secondary roads and streets, he said that if the town administration gives the excuse of not having powers, the citizens should tell them not to come for vote in the future, I am available on the phone, all problems will be resolved immediately.
He said that next year, Insha Allah, all the problems will be solved in advance and in the end this meeting will take the form of a prayer meeting only. Dua was offered at the end of the meeting. The participants thanked Mayor Karachi for inviting in the meeting.
