KP budget with total outlay of Rs1,332 billion announced

PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa budget for next fiscal year with an outlay of one thousand, three hundred and thirty-two (1,332) billion rupees was presented here in Provincial Assembly in Peshawar on Monday.

Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra presenting the budget proposals announced that one thousand, one hundred and nine billion rupees have been set aside for settled districts and two-hundred and twenty-two billion rupees for merged districts.

He said the government has allocated four-hundred and eighteen billion rupees for the Annual Development Program. The Minister announced sixteen percent adhoc relief allowance for government employees’ salaries and fifteen percent in pensions of retired employees, besides announcement of a fifteen percent risk allowance for police personnel from grade 7 to 16 and an increase in the police martyr’s package.

He said twenty-five billion rupees have been earmarked for Sehat Card Plus and ten billion rupees have been allocated for provision of free medicine to people including the first ever initiative of free medicine at OPDs. Taimur Saleem Jhagra said the government has allocated two-hundred and twenty-seven billion rupees for elementary and secondary education while more than thirty-four billion rupees for the higher education department.
