Peshawar:Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub Khan on Wednesday directed to hold review meetings twice in month on priority projects.

He said the PTI provincial government under the leadership of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan is working on public welfare and welfare projects on priority basis. While presiding over a review meeting on priority projects of the Irrigation Department, he said according to the party manifesto, practical steps are being taken for the development of agriculture.

He said work is in full swing on the construction of small dams and water channels to supply abundant water to the agriculture sector, which is related to the development of agriculture and the people. He said timely completion of these projects will benefit the people in a better way while food security is also associated with it.

The minister said by building small dams, agriculture can be further developed by storing water, while cultivating maximum area can play a key role in bringing about a green revolution in a short span of time. The meeting was attended by Secretary Irrigation Ayaz Khan, Chief Engineer North Nasir Ghafoor Khan, Project Directors of related projects and other concerned officials.

During the briefing to the Provincial Minister for Irrigation Arshad Ayub Khan regarding the cost, utility, progress and problems faced by the projects, it was informed that 11872 acres of land in Mansehra would be irrigated from Sern Right Bank project in Mansehra while 85 cusecs water would be discharged for irrigation.

Pehor High Level Canal Expansion Project will be completed by December 2023 which will benefit the people of Swabi and Nowshera. The minister, while expressing satisfaction over the pace of work, directed to arrange quarterly review meeting on said projects, adding that no compromise should be made on standard construction and steps should be taken to complete the projects on time.
