Peshawar, December 14, 2018 (PPI-OT): The ladies police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police force are performing shoulder to shoulder duty with men police in the field. Infact they are exhibiting more professional zeal and spirit and giving tough time to the anti-social elements. As per details, women folk are considered integral part of the society and the ratio of women population in the country is 51% which make it imperative to empower the women in all fields of life.
In police order 2017, a separate wing for women police has been made mandatory to encourage women to join the force and play their crucial role in curbing crime and improving investigation. It is encouraging that women folk are joining police force in large number and playing their indispensable role along with men police. Presently, a total of 800 ladies police of different ranks are giving duties for ensuring peace and tranquillity in the society. These included, one ASP, 8 DSP, 2 SIs, 8 ASIs, 136 HCs, 653 constables while 22 are posted on ministerial posts.
It is also encouraging that so far 63 ladies police have successfully completed Elite Commando training. During this training they undergone all those rigorous phases of training which their men counterpart are going. Now these ladies commandos are taking active part in operations against terrorists and other hardcore criminals while remained posted in different platoons and special contingents.
Likewise, several ladies police have completed training of defusing IEDs and explosive materials and now applying the acquired skills in the field by zipping to the blast spot. According to available statistics two ladies police have embraced martyrdom in bomb blasts during field duty. In the field of sports the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ladies police also excelled and one lady constable won several national and international medals and thus added new feathers in the rich cap of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police force.
