Sindh’s Minister for Interior, Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar, visited Huawei’s Shenzhen headquarters, where he received a warm welcome from Zhang Yong, Vice President of the Global Product Sector, and other officials.

According to a statement issued from Sindh Home Ministry today, during the visit, the minister met with Huawei’s Global CEO and Vice President Li Jinfeng and received briefings on important technology projects.

Huawei officials provided detailed information on body-worn cameras, tablets and smart tracking watches, along with their integration systems with smart boards. They highlighted how smart technology can accelerate information exchange and reduce response times, which is crucial for law enforcement agencies.

Minister Lanjar emphasized the need for a dedicated LTE network for Sindh Police and discussed the technical aspects of its implementation. Huawei officials reiterated their longstanding relationship with the Government of Pakistan and expressed their commitment to enhancing ongoing collaboration with the Sindh Home Department.

Minister Lanjar thanked Huawei officials for their hospitality and expressed a desire for closer cooperation in the future. He highlighted the vision of President Asif Ali Zardari, Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and PPP Women’s Wing President Faryal Talpur to include Sukkur, Larkana, Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, Sanghar, and Shaheed Benazirabad in the Safe City projects. The minister stated, “We aim to transition from a safe city to a safe province.”

During the visit, a key agreement on the Safe Cities project was signed. At the conclusion, Huawei’s Vice President and DG Safe Cities confirmed progress on ongoing projects and endorsed completed work. This agreement marks significant progress for Safe Cities projects in Sindh.

It is noteworthy that Minister Lanjar’s visit to China reflects the Sindh government’s efforts to utilize advanced technology and improve law and order in the province.
