LARKANA:Journalists of Larkana took out a rally and held a protest demonstration Wednesday against the brutal murder of their colleague Zulfiqar Ali Mandrani in Dodapur three days ago.

The protest was joined by photojournalists and cameramen, President Larkana Press Club Murtaza Kalhoro, Salamat Abro, Hafeez Mangi, Safdar Sindhi, Qadir Jagirani, Badar Shaikh. Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said that Mandrani was a brave journalist who not only worked for the downtrodden people of his area but also exposed injustices being committed by the influential people with the poor masses.

They said he also reported against drug dens which were operated by the drug dealers right under the nose of police and such news clippings were also uploaded by him on his social media account for which he was targeted by the drug operators and police.

They said he was dragged out of his car by people of Dayo community and made captive at a house where he was brutally tortured and then shot in the head due to which he died. The leaders said Dodapur police intended to destroy the case by giving it wrong turn that the journalist was gunned down on the pretext of Karo-Kari.

They further added that the relatives of journalists were alleging that two arrested accused were not involved in the murder as the police were trying to save the real culprits. They also condemned such police attitude and investigation.

The protesters demanded of the Chief Justices of Pakistan and Sindh High Court, Chief Minister, IGP, DIGP Larkana and other relevant higher authorities to order judicial inquiry into the murder, expose real culprits and provide justice to the heirs of the killed journalist or else they will enlarge the scope of their protests.
