Lawyers in Shikarpur, responding to a call from the District Bar Association, took to the streets with their children to protest against the unauthorized construction of six canals on the Indus River.
The protest rally commenced from the District and Sessions Court Shikarpur. Lawyers, holding banners and placards, marched through the city’s roads and converged at the Shikarpur Press Club. The demonstrators voiced their discontent with the government’s policies and strongly opposed the canal construction on the Sindhoo Darya.
Prominent advocates, including Muhammad Ali Jatoi, Aftab Soomro, Zafar Chana, Danesh Kumar, and others declared their unwavering stance against the project. They emphasized that the people of Sindh would not permit any initiative that threatens to disrupt the river’s natural flow.
The protest witnessed participation from civil society representatives, local leaders from political and religious groups such as Jamiat Ulma-e-Islam, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz, Jeay Sindh Mahaz, along with city associations.
