Lahore, October 14, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Wednesday called for a special package to the trading community of the country keeping in view global economic scenario. Elaborating the point, the LCCI President Mian Nauman Kabir, Senior Vice President Mian Rehman Aziz Chan and Vice President Haris Ateeq said that business community should be given relaxation in property tax, water tariff and should resolve the issues which are hampering the growth of businesses.
The LCCI office-bearers were addressing the delegations of All Pakistan Cottage Industry headed by its Chairman Ghulam Sarwar Malik, the delegation of Anjuman-e-Tajran, Lahore headed by the LCCI Executive Committee Member Shahid Nazir and the delegation of Readymade Garments Association headed by Haji Muhammad Hanif.
While talking to the delegation of All Pakistan Cottage Industry, the LCCI President Mian Nauman Kabir, Senior Vice President Rehman Aziz Chan and Vice President Haris Ateeq said that the government should give special incentives to the Cottage Industry as it is backbone of the manufacturing sector. They said that the cottage industry is not only a building block of economy but is also of utmost importance for alleviation of poverty and unemployment.
They said that the economic revival of the country would remain a dream until and unless the government redesigns its policies and divert resources towards cottage industry. They cited the example of Bangladesh, China, Korea and United States where an equal importance is being given to the small business. They said that these countries are treating cottage industry at par with Large Scale Manufacturing sector.
The LCCI office-bearers said that the cottage and small-scale industries are labour intensive and provide employment to more than 80 per cent of the industrial labour force. This reduces the unemployment and offers opportunities for self-employment. They said that cottage industry also meets the local demands for industrial goods and save foreign exchange.
While talking to the delegations of Readymade Garments Association and Anjuman-e-Tajran Lahore, the LCCI office-bearers emphasized the government to resolve genuine issues of the traders. They said that the government should expedite the process of consultation with the stakeholders as they are driving force of the economy. They said that provision of a conducive business environment will be meant a good pace of economic development of the country.
