LCCI hails SBP for extending bank timings

Lahore, May 06, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has hailed State Bank of Pakistan for accepting its demand and extending bank timings during the Holy Month of Ramazan. The LCCI President Almas Hyder, Acting President Khawaja Shahzad Nasir and Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigal said that good response from the State Bank of Pakistan to the LCCI demand would give a big relief to the business community.

It is pertinent to mention here that in a letter written to the Governor State Bank of Pakistan, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry demanded bank timings during the Holy Month of Ramazan from 10 am to 4 pm. The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry further stated in the letter that normally banks observe 8 am to 2 pm timings during Ramazan whereas, the markets start functioning around 11 am due to which most of the business transactions remain unattended that cause huge loss to them.

“It is good to see that State Bank of Pakistan felt gravity of the situation and immediately directed the banks to enhance their working timings in the larger interest of the trade and industry”, the LCCI office-bearers added. They also suggested that timings of export and import-related government offices including banks, ports and customs during Ramazan should be same because businesses would suffer a lot due to reduced timing.
