Load Shedding in North Karachi Industrial Area: Industrialist warn to stop to pay K-Electric Bills

Karachi, June 17, 2019 (PPI-OT): North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry (NKATI) protest against K-Electric, due to Load shedding in Industries. Captain A Moiz Khan, Patron in Chief, S Tariq Rasheed, President NKATI has requested to Governor and CM Sindh to play role for supply of electricity in North Karachi Industrial Area. They Said that, It is really shocking for the industrialists of North Karachi Industrial Area, K-Electric started again load shedding In order to balance the demand K-Electric undertaking load management in industrial zones from 12:30 AM to 6:30 AM.

They said, The K-Electric has all resources for generating electricity However, K-Electric is unable to provide electricity to industrial Areas of Karachi which itself has a question mark. Industrialists of North Karachi Industrial Area have suffered severe intense anger. The labour class working in factories is affecting the most. Due to load loadings in the night one shift in factories has been completely closed due to which the work in factories remains unavailable. If the timely order is not completed, factory owners are unable to give labour / pay to their labour on time.

NKATI Office Bearers Warn to K Electric that, Due to the load shedding of electricity, North Karachi Industrial Area industrialist will not be able to pay electricity bill for incoming months. If K-Electric wants the Industrialist of North Karachi Industrial Area to pay the next incoming month bills, then the K-Electric should exempt North Karachi Industrial Area from load shedding. Due to six (6) hours load shedding, Industrial production has declined and industrialists are facing financial crisis.

They Said, Load shedding for the industry which was indeed not a relief for us on account of the importance of the industry in the growth of the country exempt from load shedding. However, facing load shedding which has had a detrimental impact on the production. This load shedding has forced us to generate power on our own which means we need to spend more of our limited finance and purchase of diesel for our generators which unfairly increases our costs further. It is also worth mentioning that price of the diesel required for these generators continues to rise.

“Our losses continue to rise when the promised electricity is unreliable and our workers sit idle waiting for electrical power. As a result our Small and Medium Enterprises sector is also being plagued by these issues. Therefore, we request you to stop the load shedding and provide us with an uninterrupted supply of electricity”, they said.

They Said , Needless to emphasize that under the present circumstances when there is hyperinflation breaking the backs of a common man and unemployment level of highest order the present unwise policy of the K-Electric will have crippling effect on the industries who will have no option but to close down their factories. Obviously, this would result in increasing unemployment level to the extreme and short supply of goods and services will shoot up the inflation rate sky high. Before such a situation takes place we would request you to consider our genuine demand in order to prosper our Country.
