Leader of the Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC), Dr Mahrung Baloch, today raised concerns over alleged human rights violations in Balochistan, emphasizing the plight of families affected by enforced disappearances.
Addressing a seminar organized by the BYC at the Quetta Press Club to mark International Human Rights Day, Dr Baloch said, ‘Balochistan has been turned into a garrison, and even the identity of Baloch citizens is being questioned.’ She accused authorities of suppressing voices that speak out against what she described as the exploitation of Balochistan’s natural resources.
Drawing attention to the emotional toll on families, she said, ‘Every mother here carries the picture of her missing son. We must pledge not to back down from our national struggle and continue to condemn oppression in Balochistan.’
Vice Chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, Mama Qadeer Baloch, also addressed the gathering, reiterating the demand for justice and accountability. Other speakers included BYC leaders Bebrak Baloch, Sibghatullah Baloch, Bebo Baloch and others, who echoed calls for an end to what they described as systemic human rights abuses in the region.
The seminar underscored the community’s resolve to continue advocating for justice despite challenges, with speakers urging national and international human rights organizations to take notice of the situation in Balochistan.
